Software I Use
Updated 6th June 2026
Below are some of the software and services I like and consistently use:
✍️ Productivity
Notes - Obsidian - I've experimented with Notion, but prefer the simplicity of Obsidian. I also use Google Keep for short notes and shopping lists.
Email - Proton Mail.
Calendar - Google Calendar (shared) for my personal life. I'm currently using Proton Calendar for my work life (at least while I'm lucky enough to be consulting for a few months)
Spreadsheets - Google Sheets.
Word Processing - Google Docs and Typst.
💾 Storage
- Photos - Google Photos with older photos (> 5yr old) stored on a local HDD and backed up to Amazon Photos (Prime members get unlimited photo storage).
- Cloud - All other files are saved to Proton Drive, using the desktop client.
🧑🎨 Creativity
- Photo Editing / Arty Stuff - Affinity.
- 3D Work - Fusion 360 and Blender. I'm planning on giving Onshape a try too. I really wish Inventor had a hobbyist licence 😢
